The COPC is our national pairs championship. Participants must be paid up members in good standing of the CBF. In addition, each player must have earned a qualification. A player qualifies as an individual, therefore a player may participate in the COPC with any other qualified player.
Players qualify through club COPC qualifying games (September 1 – December 31) or by participating in other designated CBF events (The CBF is holding several qualifying sessions on RealBridge – last on March 20th and April 10th.) as outlined in the Conditions of Contest. Any player registered for a Championship Team event is automatically qualified for the COPC.
New this year: COPC-B for players 0-2500 MP.
The COPC will be played online on RealBridge on April 25-26, 2 sessions each day.
- Day 1: All qualified pairs play a large-field qualifying session; approximately the top 50% advance.
- Day 2: Finals to determine Canada’s Open Pairs Champions
Pre-Registration required

The Jim Donaldson Trophy is awarded to the winning pair plus a cash prize for the winning pair and the pair in 2nd place. Jim Donaldson, a British Columbia player who tragically died of cancer in his forties, was a true sportsman, gracious opponent and fiercely ethical. In Allan Graves’ words “he was undoubtedly one of the top ten Canadian talents of all time.”
