The Canadian Open Pairs Championship (COPC) is Canada’s national pairs championship.
The COPC is held separately from Canadian Bridge Championship Week.
Qualification required:
Each player must have earned a club qualification or participated
in an event designated in the Conditions of Contest. Club
qualifying games are held from September 1 through December 31
each year.
Eligibility and Registration
Participants must be paid-up members in good standing of the Canadian Bridge Federation.
Trophy and Awards
The winning pair is awarded the Jim Donaldson Trophy. Cash prizes are awarded to both the winning pair and the second-place pair.
Jim Donaldson Trophy
Jim Donaldson was a British Columbia player who tragically
died of cancer in his forties. He was remembered as a true
sportsman, a gracious opponent and a fiercely ethical
competitor. In Allan Graves’ words, “he was undoubtedly one
of the top ten Canadian talents of all time.”
