The CBF Needs You!
The CBF Board of Directors is made up of six Zone Directors and three newly created Director at Large positions. We are currently looking for individuals to fill the position of Director at Large, as well as the position for Director of Zone 1 (Atlantic):
- Director at Large – up to three positions available for a two-year term.
- Zone 1 Director – must reside in Atlantic Canada
This individual will serve a three-year term and fulfill the role outlined in the Director at Large Job description as well as represent / liaison with the CBF members from Zone 1.
The CBF faces many challenges. Your support as a member of the board or by serving on a committee will enable us to meet these challenges and improve the membership experience. DIRECTOR AT LARGE JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITON: DIRECTOR AT LARGE
ACCOUNTABLE TO: The President and the Board of Directors
FUNCTION: To serve on the Board of Director
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve on at least one committee, and to actively participate in meetings of the committee. · Maintain current knowledge of programs/activities and projects
- Maintain the confidentiality of any information given to the Board of Directors
- Work within the policy framework established by the Board of Directors
- Serve as an advocate of the organization
- To represent and promote CBF in your area
- Attend events where possible as a representative of CBF
- To work in collaboration with Zone and Affiliate Directors
- Fulfill commitments within the agreed upon deadlines
- Be accessible to members, staff and directors as needed
- Attend all regular and special board meetings and participate in proceedings

TIME COMMITTMENTS
- Annual Board of Director meeting (F2F – 2 days)
- Monthly Board of Director meetings via Zoom (1.5 to 2 hours)
- Committee meetings and work
- Ability to commit volunteer time of 5-10 hours per month, in gereral
TERM:
- Elected for a two-year term
- The current by-laws allow for up to 3 Directors at Large. The Board, at it’s discretion, will determine if and how many Director at Large positions will be advertised and filled at any one time. It is the intent of the board to have the terms staggered in an effort to stabilize the board and maintain continuity.
PROCESS:
- Submit a letter to the CBF Executive Assistant outlining your interest in joining the Board of Directors, the areas of interest/committees that you would like to work on and the skills and relevant experience you will bring to the Director at Large position.
- The Board of Directors will review all applications and vote on the new board member at large. The elected Director at Large will start their term on March 1 or sooner as requested by the Board.
