1. CBF Team League Format, Schedule & Scoring

Teams play all matches online on RealBridge. Matches take place on Thursdays at 8:00 PM Eastern Time, beginning October 1, 2026.

• Regular-season matches are 20 boards.
• Scoring uses the WBF 20-VP IMP scale.
• Because of Nationals, the league skips November 5, 2026.
• After the regular season, playoff matches run 40 boards, normally over two consecutive weeks.
• Finally, divisions and the exact schedule depend on the final number of entries.

2. Registration, Fees & Membership

Registration closes September 24, 2026. CBF will publish the match schedule September 28, 2026. A division needs at least six teams to run.

• Entry fee is $200 CAD per team.
• Teams may include players from any country.
• Non-CBF members are subject to the $15 non-member surcharge.
• However, CBF does not issue refunds for withdrawals or forfeits.

3. Eligibility & Team Composition

Teams consist of four to eight players. Each player may register on only one team for the season.

• Players must not be under disciplinary sanction or suspension.
• If a team needs a substitute, see the policy below.

4. Captain’s Duties

Each team must name a captain. In addition, the captain handles team registration, convention cards and communication with CBF.

• Before the deadline, register the team and confirm all roster details are accurate.
• Submit convention cards and lineups
• Check posted scores and report issues promptly.
• Email admin@cbf.ca about substitute players before they play.

5. Lateness, Forfeits & Attendance

Teams should be online and ready at the scheduled start time. Therefore, lateness and forfeits may affect the match score.

• Ten minutes late: 5 IMP penalty.
• Each additional five minutes: 3 more IMPs.
• Thirty minutes late: match forfeited.
• The league scores forfeits according to the Conditions of Contest.

🚨 Serial Lateness: Any team that is late more than twice during the season may face increased IMP penalties, VP adjustments, or other disciplinary measures at the League Coordinator’s discretion — even if the lateness is only a few minutes.

6. Online Play Procedures

Players alert and explain their own calls online. During every match, CBF expects courteous communication at all tables.

• The league permits undos in the auction only, subject to the Conditions of Contest.
• Players must keep camera and microphone enabled during play.
• If routine issues arise, captains should resolve them in good faith.
• For unresolved scoring, conduct or ethics concerns, email admin@cbf.ca.

7. Substitution Policy

Each team may use one (1) substitute per season.

• Every substitute must be a current CBF member in good standing.
• They may play for only one (1) team during the season.
• No substitute may enter or leave a match in progress.
• Playoff matches may not include substitutes.

Before the match, the captain must email admin@cbf.ca with the substitute’s name and relevant details.

8. Director Rulings

No Director is on duty during match play. Captains should resolve routine issues in good faith at the table.

Captains must report any irregularities, ethical concerns, or disputes that they cannot resolve to admin@cbf.ca within 24 hours of the match. The Director, League Coordinator, or designated committee will issue a ruling using the information provided.

No appeals: Director rulings are final.
