Current Programs
Erin Berry Rookie-Master Game (Fall)
A special national game for new duplicate players.
The Erin Berry Rookie-Master Game is a national fall event designed to help introduce new players to duplicate bridge. Clubs across Canada play the same computer-dealt hands, with expert hand analyses prepared by top Canadian players. The best pairs are recognized at the club, zone, and national levels.
This event is named in memory of Erin Berry, a gifted young bridge player who was tragically killed just before her 17th birthday. The Erin Berry game has been held nationally since 1999.
At least one player in each partnership must have fewer than 100 masterpoints and should be a true “rookie.” Clubs run this game locally using CBF-provided hands and analyses. Winners are recognized nationally, by zone, and at the club.
Helen Shields Rookie-Master Game (Spring)
Canada’s spring national rookie-master championship.
The Helen Shields Rookie-Master Game is the spring edition of Canada’s national Rookie-Master program. Players across the country compete on the same computer-dealt hands with expert written analysis and national recognition for top results.
This event is named in memory of Helen Shields of Thunder Bay, a past President of the Canadian Bridge Federation who was deeply committed to teaching and introducing new players to duplicate bridge. The first Helen Shields game was held in 1995.
At least one partner must have fewer than 100 masterpoints and be a true newcomer to duplicate bridge. Clubs use CBF-provided deals and analysis. Winners receive club, zone, and national recognition.
Maple Leaf Games
Build community • Earn masterpoints • Support your club

Players must have a RealBridge account to participate, and clubs can benefit when players choose them as a “home club.” Please share the flyer and links with your members.
