Event Information

  • The Canadian Bridge Championships include both national and regional level events.
  • CBF membership is only required to participate in any of the National Championships. If you are not a CBF member you can join on www.cbf.ca. Click here.
  • The Championship team events, Canadian National Team Championships (CNTC) A, B and C, Canadian Senior Team Championships (CSTC), Canadian Womens Team Championships (CWTC), Canadian Mixed Team Championships (CMTC) all require pre-registration. Pre-registration is not required for Canadian IMP Pairs Championship (CIPC), Canadian Open Pairs Championships (COPC) or any Regional event.

Registration

  • Registration must be received by the CBF office by February 22, 2019. A late registration may be accepted only in the situation where it improves the event.
  • To register a team for any of the team championships: Click here.
  • You can register on the CBF website with a credit card. You will need to sign in and therefore you must have a password for the CBF website. If you do not want to use a credit card online, you can also send an e-transfer to canbridge@rogers.com or mail a cheque payable to the Canadian Bridge Federation.
  • You can change your team members up to April 19, 2019. Keeping in mind that the entry fee is non-refundable, you can register with less than a full roster if necessary.

System Information

The system charts that apply to the different events are:

  • Open+ for the CNTC - A
  • Open Chart for the CMTC, CSTC, CWTC and CNTC - B
  • Basic+ Chart for the CNTC -C

It is up to each partnership to determine whether their systems are permitted according to the appropriate chart for their event. The convention chart information can be found on the ACBL website. Click here

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Note: Any of the Nationl Team Championships may be cancelled if fewer than 6 teams register by the specified pre-registration deadline.

CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS (CNTC)

FLIGHT A - Saturday MAY 4– Friday MAY 10
  • Open event with no masterpoint restrictions
  • Team Entry Fee: $540 per team for the 3-day Round Robin
  • Team pre-registration is required by February 22, 2019
  • Each player must have earned club qualification, or qualification can be purchased from the CBF Office, for a $100 fee.

FLIGHT B - Saturday MAY 4 – Tuesday MAY 7
  • Restricted to players with fewer than 2,500 masterpoints as of September 2018 masterpoint cycle (run by ACBL data processing on August 6, 2018)
  • $1,500 cash prize for the winning team
  • Team Entry Fee: $360 per team for the 2-day Round Robin
  • Team pre-registration is required by February 22, 2019
  • Each player must have earned club qualification, or qualification can be purchased from the CBF Office, for a $50 fee.

FLIGHT C - Saturday MAY 4 – Tuesday MAY 7
  • Restricted to players with fewer than 1,000 masterpoints as of the September 2018 masterpoint cycle (run by ACBL data processing on August 6, 2018)
  • $1,000 cash prize for the winning team
  • Team Entry Fee: $360 per team for the 2-day Round Robin
  • Team pre-registration is required by February 22, 2019
  • Each player must have earned club qualification, or qualification can be purchased from the CBF Office, for a $30 fee.

CANADIAN WOMEN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS (CWTC) - Saturday MAY 4 - Tuesday MAY 7
  • Team Entry Fee: $360 per team for the 2-day Round Robin

CANADIAN SENIORS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS (CSTC) - Tuesday MAY 7 – Friday MAY 10
  • All teams players must be born 1958 or earlier
  • Team Entry Fee: $360 per team for the 2-day Round Robin
  • Team pre-registration is required by February 22, 2019

CANADIAN MIXED TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIPS (CMTC) - Thursday MAY 9 - Sunday MAY 12
  • Team Entry Fee: $360 per team for the 2-day Round Robin
  • Team pre-registration is required by February 23, 2019

CANADIAN IMP PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS (CIPC) - Wednesday MAY 8
  • Two session event
  • Pair Entry Fee: $80 per pair
  • Cash prizes per pair (1st - $400, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $150)

CANADIAN OPEN PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP (COPC) - Saturday MAY 11 - Sunday MAY 12
  • A player who has not participated in the CNTC, CWTC or CSTC must have earned club qualification to play in the COPC, or qualification can be purchased from the CBF Office, for a $25 fee.
  • Qualifying Saturday 11 - Entry fee: $80 per pair
  • Final Sunday 12 - Entry fee: $80 per pair
  • Cash prizes per pair (1st - $1,500, 2nd - $750)
