Qualify Locally

Play in sanctioned COPC qualifying games at your club between September 1 and March 31, or in a qualifying game on RealBridge. Finish in the top 50% of the field to earn a qualification.

Crown the Champions

The Top Flight and Mid Flight are played as separate events. In each flight, Day 1 is a qualifying session: a minimum of 40% of pairs advance to that flight’s Championship Final, while the remaining pairs compete in the Consolation Final. On Day 2, champions are crowned in each flight.

Who Can Play

CBF Membership

Both players must be members of the Canadian Bridge Federation in good standing at the time of registration and play.

Qualification Required

Pairs must earn a qualification by finishing in the top 50% of a sanctioned COPC qualifying game at a club, or in a RealBridge online qualifier.

Flight Eligibility

Pairs may enter the appropriate flight based on masterpoint limits. New this year, COPC-B offers an additional national championship flight for eligible players, open to those with 0–2500 masterpoints.

Championship Rules

  • The COPC is played as a two-day online pairs event on RealBridge.
  • Day 1 is the qualifying session for all registered pairs.
  • The top pairs advance to the Final on Day 2.
  • All players must be CBF members in good standing.
  • Pairs must qualify for the flight in which they register.
  • Top Flight: open to all players.
  • Mid Flight: 0–2500 masterpoints at time of registration.
  • Qualification is earned by finishing in the top 50% of a sanctioned qualifying game at a club or approved RealBridge qualifier.
  • A qualification may be purchased.
  • Top flight:This event is governed by the ACBL Open+ Chart. All methods allowed under this chart are permitted, with the exception of the Multi 2♦ convention, which is prohibited.
  • Mid flight:The ACBL Open Chart applies. Most standard methods are permitted; however, the Multi 2♦ convention is not allowed.
  • Players will need to upload their convention cards to the CBF website in PDF format before April 20th.
  • Players must use a device with a working camera and microphone.
  • Players must remain visible during play and have a stable internet connection.
  • The use of phones or other electronic devices during play is prohibited except for the device used for RealBridge.
  • Players are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and sportsmanlike manner.
  • The Tournament Director should be called immediately for:
    • irregularities
    • claims disputes
    • technical issues
  • Players are responsible for self-alerting and explaining bids using the RealBridge interface.
  • Questions about calls should be directed in writing to the opponent who made the bid.
  • The event is governed by the Laws of Duplicate Bridge, the CBF General Conditions of Contest, and the Supplemental Conditions of Contest.

Prizes in each flight will be awarded as follows::

  • 1st: 20% of total entry fees
  • 2nd: 10% of total entry fees
  • 3rd: 5% of total entry fees
No cash prizes for the consolation finals.
