George Mittelman<\/p><\/div>\n

George Mittelman est n\u00e9 en Europe de parents hongrois. Il a remport\u00e9 deux Championnats mondiaux, les Paires mixtes de 1982 et les \u00e9quipes Senior de 2002. Il a \u00e9galement remport\u00e9 une m\u00e9daille d\u2019argent au Bermuda Bowl de 1995, ainsi que deux m\u00e9dailles de bronze au Rosenblum Cup (1982 et 1990).<\/p>\n

Au Rosenblum Cup de 1990, lors du d\u00e9sormais c\u00e9l\u00e8bre incident de Gen\u00e8ve, on a vol\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe la possibilit\u00e9 de jouer pour l\u2019or \u00e0 cause d\u2019une erreur de pointage, la correction ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 refus\u00e9e par un comit\u00e9 d\u2019appel.<\/p>\n

Mittelman a remport\u00e9 huit<\/em><\/strong> Championnats canadiens (CNTC), plus que tout autre joueur. Il a aussi remport\u00e9 quatre titres nord-am\u00e9ricains\u00a0: les \u00e9quipes suisses Keohane de 1986, les \u00e9quipes suisses Open Jacoby de 1995, les \u00e9quipes Mitchell BAM de 1998 et les \u00e9quipes Seniors Baze de 2006. Il a aussi remport\u00e9 le Championnat canadien par paires IMP en 2019 et une 2\u00e8 position au Championnat canadien des \u00e9quipes S\u00e9niors en 2020.<\/p>\n

Voici Mittelman \u00e0 l\u2019oeuvre lors d\u2019un tournoi local \u00e0 Toronto, alors qu\u2019il jouait avec John Gowdy:<\/p>\n

Ne voulant pas abandonner une lev\u00e9e non-m\u00e9rit\u00e9e au d\u00e9clarant, alors qu\u2019il y avait possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019une distribution folle, Gowdy a entam\u00e9 de l\u2019\u2666<\/span>A, puis a poursuivi avec le \u2666<\/span>K et un autre carreau en voyant le mort. Tr\u00e8s vite, Mittelman a d\u00e9fauss\u00e9 la \u2665<\/span>D! D\u00e8s lors, le d\u00e9clarant ne pouvait plus r\u00e9ussir le contrat.<\/p>\n

Notez que si Mittelman avait conserv\u00e9 la \u2665<\/span>D, le d\u00e9clarant aurait pu se faufiler, jouant coeur deux fois du mort vers sa main. Si Mittelman jouait la Dame sur une de ces deux lev\u00e9es, on le laisserait gagner la lev\u00e9e; sinon, la troisi\u00e8me ronde de coeur le forcerait \u00e0 gagner de la Dame.
